Adoption Policies

• Adopter will agree to have their pet spayed or neutered within 30 days of adopting, except for puppies and kittens, (to be completed when animal is old enough.)
• Adopter will notify Alcona Humane when the procedure is completed.
• If adopter is unable to keep their pet, they will contact the Alcona Humane Society first.
• You must be at least 21 years of age.
• Renters must have a letter from their landlord.
• Sleep Over Program - you can take a pet home for a two week trial period to see if the pet will fit into your family at no cost.

Adoption Costs

Dogs- 85.00 which includes spay/neuter shots and wormed
Cats- 70.00 which includes spay and neuter, shots and wormed
If the animal is not fixed then adoption fee for dogs is 35.00 and cats is 20.00 which includes shots and wormed. Then the spay or neuter deposit must be paid up front.

Alternative Spay and Neuter program   

    SNIP- Alcona Humane Society will help pet owner pay for spay or neuter.

  Requirements: 20 hours volunteer time at the shelter, to be completed within 30 days, applicant must be 18 years old and only one person from family may complete the volunteer time.
