Samantha
Many times on our days off, we will find ourselves at the vets office taking in animals for one reason or another. On this particular day I noticed a woman crying in the parking lot while taking in a carrier and figured it was just that animals time due to old age or sickness. Of course your eyes start to water up just knowing the heartbreak the family is going through. But on my way in, I overheard them telling the story of their parents passing away and this poor cat had nowhere to go so they were going to put her to sleep. She was a beautiful 10 yr old buff colored girl with the most gorgeous green eyes just sitting in the back of her carrier. You could tell she was so scared and confused. So I informed the family of where I worked and that I could try to find her a home. As I was talking, you could see the look of joy and relief on their faces. So here I am, asking for your help in finding this girl a new home. I truly believe that she feels lost and is wondering why her family is gone. When an animal comes into the shelter, you can see the differnce between a stray and an animal that was turned into the shelter by an owner. A stray seems to come around alot faster as far as affection and getting along with others, but the ones that are turned in by owners, its like their heart is broken. Samantha's heart is clearly broken. She lays in the back of her cage and she doesn't eat much but yet when you sit next to her, she automatically crawls into your lap and starts to purr. My wish this Christmas is that Samantha can once again find herself in a home with a family who can show her that life can go on after tragedy and that life can be good. - Donna
