Bree

Bree, a Husky mix, was picked up and brought to us via the Alcona Sheriff's Department.

It became apparent that Bree was a sad, shy, frightened dog who had lost her way. As the days went by, one by one, Bree came out of her shell somewhat. She learned to trust her caretakers here at the shelter and would even talk to us in the voice that's synonymous with Huskies, the "woo, woo, woo" that emanates from them instead of the normal bark most dogs prefer. Bree was blessed with a long, soft coat that required brushing several times a week. Heidi, one of my devoted employees, steadfastly took over this task. I kept teasing her, telling her she was going to get attached. Of course, this type of hands on care usually starts the bonding process and sure enough, she became attached to Bree and her personality. Bree's owner never claimed her, therefore, she became available for adoption. People would pass by Bree's' cage daily, but no one expressed any interest in adopting her. Unfortunately, because of over crowding at the shelter, Bree was one of the animals considered for euthanasia. Heidi approached me and asked me NOT to put her down. She was going to find a place for Bree, no matter what. She said, "She's just too good of a dog to be euthanized". Right away, Heidi's husband went to work on building a place for Bree in their back yard and her two young children were anxiously and impatiently awaiting Bree's arrival. We completed the paper work this week for Bree's adoption and Heidi took her home. To her FOREVER home, to be spoiled, loved and brushed several times weekly to ensure the continuance of that bonding that'll tear your heart apart every time.
